How To Convince Your Parents To Buy You A Nintendo Wii

You\'ve been begging your parents to get you the Nintendo Wii but they have resisted your pleas so far. What else can you do? Here are some things you can do to get that very precious Nintendo Wii from them as a gift.

Plant the seed

Think of your parents as a freshly weeded garden bed and the Nintendo Wii as the first seed of the spring. Plant it early. Make sure they know that you want a Wii and that it’s the only thing you want. Don’t ask for a new TV, set of clothing, and a Wii. It only cheapens the request when you include multiple desires.

Also, don’t ask too often. Mention it once or twice and make absolutely sure your parents know that you want a Wii. Now, sit back and start doing the things that will secure their desire to do something nice for you.

Hard Work

Often, a good bout of hard work and some carefully timed help around the house will add up to big pay off. This includes not just doing extra work around the house when they ask you to, but going out of your way to do extra work when they haven’t asked you to. Get creative, too. If you just take out the trash every now and then, it’s not nearly as effective as doing the dishes before they get home from work, or raking the lawn. Don’t overdo it though, or they’ll get used to your help and expect you to keep doing chores, even after you’ve gotten your Wii

Be Agreeable

Be nice to everyone. If you normally throw quarters at your younger brother when he comes near your room, try relaxing and letting him in for a few minutes. You want your parents to believe that with a shiny new Wii console, you might actually share it with him. Sharing is a big factor in getting your parents to buy you a new game console. They don’t want to buy something for someone who will only lock him or herself in their room and shut out the world.

The Wii Is Family Oriented

Make sure you let your parents know, subtly if possible, just how much of a family machine the Nintendo Wii can be. Explain to them what it does, how you can play sports with the remote, and how the multiplayer games are incredibly fun. Point out a couple of those great Wii commercials with the Japanese salesmen if you can. If your parents are even slightly tech savvy or have ever played video games, the new gameplay elements and “family” atmosphere of the Wii might convince them it’s a good buy for everyone.

The key to getting your parents to buy you a Nintendo Wii is to be nice, be unexpected, and make them think they have a great idea in buying it. A couple of quick and simple manipulations will go a long way.
